How Fund Search Shapes Discovery on Agora image

Discovery is the first step in building relationships between managers and allocators. On Agora, that discovery happens through the Find Funds, a search tool designed to make it easier for allocators to explore opportunities and for managers to ensure their strategies are visible in the marketplace.

How Allocators Use Fund Search

Allocators come to Agora with different starting points: sometimes they have a specific manager in mind, and other times they’re looking to explore broader strategies. The Fund Search Page supports both approaches with multiple ways to narrow results:

  • Keyword Search: Allocators can search by fund name, strategy, management company, company location, or even fund manager name.

  • Region & Strategy Filters: Exposure by region or investment strategy helps allocators target specific mandates. Multiple strategies can be selected at once.

  • Quantitative Filters: Allocators can refine by AUM, track record, annualized return, year-to-date return, volatility, or drawdown — narrowing preferences down to precise percentage ranges.

  • Saved Filters: Frequently used filters can be saved and accessed later under “Filter Sets,” making ongoing research more efficient.

Allocators can also view funds they’ve previously interacted with — either through connection requests (pending or granted) or those they’ve marked as Favorites for easy access.

How Results Are DisplayedConnect (4)

To help allocators visualize their search, results can be displayed in three different views:

  • Results View: A traditional list for quick scanning.

  • Map View: Geographic distribution of funds.

  • Plot View: A visual representation of risk and return characteristics.

The Manager Perspective: Why Search Visibility Matters

For managers, the Fund Search Page is where visibility begins. Here are a few considerations:

  • Profile Completeness Matters: A detailed profile ensures your fund appears when allocators filter by region, strategy, or quantitative metrics.

  • Favorites & Connections Build Mindshare: If an allocator favorites your fund or sends a connection request, you stay in their research orbit.

  • Search Is Ongoing: Allocators don’t just use search once — they return as strategies evolve or new mandates arise. Keeping your profile current ensures you remain discoverable over time.

What If a Fund Doesn’t Appear in Search?

Agora also offers a concierge onboarding process. If an allocator can’t find a specific fund, they can provide a contact, and Agora will notify them once the fund is onboarded. This ensures allocators have comprehensive visibility, and managers don’t miss opportunities for discovery.

Key Takeaway

The Fund Search Page is more than a database — it’s the engine of discovery in Agora’s marketplace. For allocators, it provides a structured way to filter, compare, and revisit funds of interest. For managers, it’s a reminder that visibility is shaped by how complete and up-to-date their profiles are.

By treating search as both a research tool and a branding opportunity, allocators and managers can engage with the marketplace in a way that’s transparent, efficient, and informed.
