Founded on the belief that institutional investors and fund managers deserved more than legacy processes and generic platforms, we left the big-bank model to build something more focused—something personal.

We combined human insight with thoughtful technology to foster smarter, stronger connections between capital and opportunity. Whether we’re helping investors discover differentiated strategies or supporting managers through the fundraising journey, everything we do is designed to reduce friction and deliver clarity in a complex market.

Inspired by the enduring wisdom of Thalēs of Miletus—an early philosopher and mathematician who made what’s considered the first options trade in recorded history—we carry his name. And his actions and spirit influences how we operate. We use foresight, intelligence, and structure to unlock value—thoughtfully, and with purpose.

From a group of seasoned finance innovators to a leading alt investment company.

Foundation and vision

1987
Laying the groundwork

Stephan Solomon pioneers early capital introduction efforts at Prudential Securities, connecting hedge funds and institutional investors at the inception of managed futures.

2002
Expanding the model

Stephan Solomon and Marc Cohen join Fimat (Société Générale), forming the Financial Services Group to support hedge funds with listed and OTC derivatives services.

2005
Backing emerging managers

The team helps lead Société Générale’s hedge fund incubation efforts, managing fundraising for firms including Alphadyne Asset Management and others.

2007
Operating at scale

As Fimat and Calyon Financial merge to form Newedge, the team continues to refine capital introduction within one of the world’s largest FCMs.

Independence and innovation

2012
Thalēs is founded

Breaking from the bank model, Stephen Solomon and Marc Cohen launch Thalēs Trading Solutions to offer high-touch, tech-forward brokerage and capital advisory services.

2014
Harvest launches

Thalēs debuts Harvest, a post-trade portal to streamline reconciliation, reporting, and multi-broker operations across futures, options, and FX.

2015
Capital advisory expands

Thalēs Capital Partners is formed to deliver institutional placement services and guide alternative managers through the capital-raising lifecycle.

2016
Strategic guidance

An Advisory Board of industry experts is assembled to provide insight, credibility, and direction for continued growth.

Platform and community

2017
Agora goes live

Thalēs launches Agora, a digital capital introduction platform combining modern discovery tools with the firm's relationship-first approach.

2020
Virtual engagement evolves

Agora adds event functionality, enabling investors to access curated manager presentations and topical programs online.

2022
A decade of growth

Thalēs celebrates 10 years of connecting capital and opportunity across the alternative investment landscape—with deeper relationships and greater reach than ever before.
