Firm continues to build on strategic momentum by enhancing value-add support for alternative investment managers
New York, April 30, 2025 – Thalēs, a technology-driven capital raising and derivatives brokerage firm, today announced that Jonathan Stark has joined Thalēs Capital Partners as a Managing Director. Stark brings over 20 years of experience across allocator, capital introduction, and hedge fund business development roles, and will focus on connecting institutional investors with differentiated alternative investment strategies.
This appointment follows the firm’s recent promotion of David Modiano to Head of Capital Strategies, reflecting Thalēs’ continued effort to expand its value-added advisory services and deepen investor relationships.
“Jon’s experience across both the buy and sell sides gives him a rare perspective that directly benefits our clients,” said Marc Cohen, CEO of Thalēs. “He understands what allocators care about, how managers can better position themselves, and how to facilitate meaningful dialogue between the two. His addition strengthens our ability to support managers through every stage of their capital raising journey.”
Before joining Thalēs, Stark led business development at Penso Advisors and Totem Macro Asset Management, focusing on volatility, macro, and EM quantamental strategies. He previously was in capital introductions at JP Morgan and invested in hedge funds at AIFAM Inc. and Kenmar Global. Earlier in his career, he gained direct asset class experience across Equities, FX, Fixed Income, and Energy at firms including Citigroup, UBS, Credit Suisse First Boston, and Shell. He holds an MBA from Columbia University, a BS/MS from Carnegie Mellon University, and the CAIA designation.
“Thalēs has built a uniquely collaborative and forward-thinking platform,” said Jonathan Stark. “Their emphasis on long-term partnerships, market intelligence, and hands-on support for managers is exactly what’s needed in today’s environment. I’m excited to get started and help clients tell their stories more effectively and reach the right investors.”
David Modiano, recently named Head of Capital Strategies, noted: “Adding someone with Jon’s background complements the direction we’re heading. His ability to bridge perspectives from allocators and managers alike will help sharpen our offering and deepen the conversations we’re having with clients. Just as importantly, Jon brings a highly developed network that’s orthogonal to our existing relationships—this kind of additive coverage is a real value-add for the managers we work with.”
Thalēs continues to deliver tailored capital solutions and advisory services to a curated group of alternative investment funds, supported by a robust community of institutional investors and a technology-enabled distribution platform.
